Building Good Vibrations:
An introduction and education in steel tongue drum design and construction 1 Day Workshop $185
In association with the master artists and metal workers at Stonybrook Fine arts, DrumVibe LLC is offering a class to teach and guide each participant in through the processes of basic music theory, metal working, shaping and finishing, as well as harmonic tuning techniques.  Each participant will have the opportunity to create their own steel drum, with tuning they have designed or choose from over 100 traditional tunings used by DrumVibe LLC in the production of their steel tongue drums.  The finished products will be approximately 8 inches high and 7 pounds. 

Electrolytic Etching 1 Day Workshop  $250 
Learn how to perform electolytic etching, an alternative process of etching metal plates for decorative metalwork and intaglio or relief printing that involves no acids, toxic fumes or dangerous and difficult to dispose chemicals. Day one covers the process of building a DYI etching station from inexpensive and accessible components, etching resists, and design considerations. Day two gives students time to etch their own plates in brass, copper, or steel. Bring designs, drawings, or digital images to print!

Silversmith 1 Day Workshop $185
Explore the dundamentals of silver jewelry making in this hands-on workshop.  Learn to saw, create texture, stamp, shape, solder and polish while making a silver ring.

Expressive Plaster Bust 2 Day Workshop $275

Working from a life model, students make an expressive life-size bust directly in plaster. Students work to handle plster in its various states and to integrate paint into their work, as well as a bsic structure and proportions of the human head. Examples of expressive figurative plaster sculptures will be shown and discussed.
